Freedom Hill Horse Rescue

"People Helping Horses & Horses Helping People"

The FHHR mission is to rescue horses from neglect, abuse, abandonment, and slaughter; to improve their lives by providing a safe haven for healing and rehabilitation; to find new homes through a rigorous adoption process; and to educate the community through educational and equine-assisted programs.  The mission drives all of our work and we take pride in giving horses a chance to be Free to Live Again.

In Loving Memory

1508083 203998379796808 1339754714 nIt is with great sadness that FHHR says goodbye to a long time friend and advocate for horses. Ernie Shifflett, a member of our Board of Directors and Facilities Manager, passed away on January 23, 2014 after a valiant battle with lung cancer.

Ernie will always be remembered for his fun loving spirit and generous soul that gave so much of himself to FHHR and to others. He would drop everything he was doing to lend a hand, and he always went above and beyond the call of duty to help FHHR throughout the years. In true Ernie fashion, he requested that donations be given to FHHR in remembrance to him which deeply touched our hearts. We will always cherish the memories we have of Ernie, and we will never forget all that he has done for FHHR over the years. He truly had a heart of gold!

Our heartfelt condolences and best wishes go out to Susan, another member of our Board of Directors and Adoption's Coordinator, and her family during this time.

Let’s celebrate the life of Ernie Shifflett and allow his legacy to continue by bringing joy, love and laughter to others. FHHR will not be the same without you, but will have been forever changed because of you!
