ASPCA Awards $3,000 Towards Land Enhancement Initiative!
We are thrilled to announce that we are the recipients of a grant from the ASPCA to help us with our project, On Solid Ground: Land Enhancement Initiative for an Equine Rescue Facility. With the funding, we have already made some major improvements to the rescue by renovating the the run in shelter so that it could be usable space for the horses. This past winter, the run in was not able to be used because there was not a proper drainage system or footing which made the inside of the structure full of ice and a muddy mess.
Another larger project we were able to complete was to add a larger sacrifice area to one of the pastures so that we can have better pasture management practices on smaller acreage. It was recommended by Soil Conservation and the Department of Agriculture to have this area to prevent over grazing and to have sustainable pasture for the horses.
Thanks to the generosity of the ASPCA and others, we were able to not only make these two major improvements, but we were able to meet other needs of this overall project as well.
This would not have been possible without the work of one of our incredible volunteers. Special thanks and recognition to our amazing and talented volunteer grant writer, Jennifer Purcell!
