Freedom Hill Horse Rescue
Hi! I’m Smash! I’m a 26 year old, 15H, TB cross, Dark Bay, Mare. I currently live in Easton, Md. I am 26 going on 2 since I’m still very spirited with a temperament rating of 8 on a scale of 1 (calm) and 10 (spirited). I was formerly ridden English and could swap my leads, but I might throw in a buck if I’m working too hard on bending. I haven’t been handled or ridden much for 11 years. I get very attached to my pasture mates and prefer they hang out with me rather than be taken away for rides. I love to be groomed and fussed over since I am such a beauty, but I need an experienced handler. I don’t kick or bite. I’m fine for you to pick my hooves, but I may dance around a little for the farrier when it’s time for my trim. I have a little arthritis and have foundered but that is corrected by limiting fresh grass. It would suit me best if I were your pasture pal for other horses that are also pasture pals. Won’t you please find some room for me so I can add some beauty to your life? I’m sorry, but the cute little human in my photo isn’t included.
Cocheta is a 13 Y.O. Leopard Appaloosa mare that stands 14.2H. This absolutely beautiful girl will steal your heart! Cocheta is a very good girl, intelligent and willing. She required an experienced equestrian as she is very green and a clean slate to train your way. She will take a saddle and you can sit on her at the walk and she needs to adjust to the bit but will take one. Cocheta is well adjusted to life on the farm and all the sounds and animals that come with it, such as, dogs, cats, ducks, trucks and tractors. Her temperament has been rated as a 3 on the 1 (calm) to 10 (spirited) scale. She trailers but hesitantly, no kick, bite or buck. She has had uveitis in the past and is blind in the distal corner of her right eye. She does resist oral paste types of medication but not in a mean spirited way. Cocheta is looking for a kind and loving home. She is currently located in St Leonard, MD. She is a diamond ready to be polished!
We cannot always take in every horse that needs a new home. But we do strive to help any way that we can. The below horses are available for adoption by their owners. Please contact Sharon.Freedom.Hill@gmail.com or the contact info on the posting for more information on a particular horse. Thank you!
Note: FHHR assumes no responsibility for the animal, we are only assisting with placement as we can.
Introducing Appraised Jaguar!
Jag is a 19 Y.O. Bay Quarter Horse gelding with strong Thoroughbred genes that stands at 15H. This very handsome fellow is experienced in western pleasure, barrels and trail riding. Jag is a sensible horse who wants to please and needs a job and a companion that can give him time, exercise, love and care.
Jag requires an intermediate rider as he can be a little pushy, but responds well to correction. His temperament has been rated as a 4 on a scale of 1 (calm) to 10 (spirited). He is up to date on his vaccinations, dental and farrier (barefoot) care. He trailers well, no rear, kick or bite. Jag does have some urinary incontinence and will require his legs to be washed regularly. A labor of love you will not regret! He has been checked out by a vet and is healthy. Please find love in your heart to bring this kind, handsome fellow home. He is currently in Severn, Md.
